Now granted, that I do have quite a few of the older games, that I still haven’t played all the way through, though there are a few exceptions, mostly Mass Effect though, I really really enjoyed that game, and I will prolly play through it once more, just for good measure. *chuckles*

But, yea, for new releases, I was sad to see that Mass Effect really hadn’t gotten any love from the developers, hopefully it’s because they are far too busy making Mass Effect 2 (hey one can dream right), but it is still annoying, but I was very plesantly surprised to see, that there was a host of new content for both Fallout 3 and Fable 2 and both are games I truely enjoyed playing.

It is hard for me to choose a primary favorite between Fallout 3 and Fable 2, mostly because they are both covering two different genres, genres which I really like (Fantasy and Sci-fi), though I think in an effort to be fair, that Fallout 3 would win, mostly due to the fact that it feels less repetitive than Fable 2, which can be a bit of a grind fest. *grins*

All in all, I think it will prolly end up buying all addons for both Fable 2 and Fallout 3 when money will allow me, though currently I have more trouble getting enough money to put food on my table. *smiles* And food is my top priority there, I bet many will understand that choice.

Most of my time has been taken by World of Warcraft, which a friend recently got me into playing again, only to leave the server I was on, without telling me, very odd in my eyes, though I have also been using quite a bit of time in Warhammer Online, which is like..

It is hard to say what parts of World of Warcraft I like and which I don’t like, but I think that the PvP in Warhammer Online is really really nice.
Warhammer Online and Dark Age of Camelot is the only two games, where I have really enjoyed doing PvP (or RvR as they call it), of course I’ve played quite a few first person shooters also, but I don’t really think of that as PvP, when I am talking about PvP, I am talking about MMO’s in general..

So.. Yea, those are the things that have really taken up my time recently. *giggles* Other than that, nothing much is happening in my life really..

Well.. One could easily say that I really should write more on my blog, but then again, I really want to have something to write about, so I don’t just write to write, even though that can be fun once in a while..

But I guess it’s time for a little update on what I’ve been using the last few days on, nothing much really, because my life isn’t really the most exciting there has ever been, I don’t even think my life would rate within the top one million. *chuckles*

Yes.. What have I been up to the last few days. Well other than the normal boring daily routine, most of my time has really been spend on AoC. Now that the NDA has been lifted, I can finally say that I’ve been a beta tester since one of the early tech tests in this game, and I must say that it has really evolved into a modern, very beautiful and quite addicting game. *chuckles* So that’s where most of my time has been spend in that game, other than that I’ve been playing a few games with a few friends of mine and programming a bit

Now what have I been programming, some of you might ask, and for those curious souls, I will say that I’ve mostly been using my programming time on two things: The Guild 2 and Neverwinter Nights.. Yes, I am one of these weird people that still enjoy Neverwinter Nights quite a bit more than the sequel, and I really love developing strange and sometimes also useful things for the game.. One of my friends has recently asked me to develop an simple hunger/thirst system, which I said, “Why not”, mostly because I am rusty with the NWScript language, and the NWToolset all-in-all, so I thought it would be great for practice, and it certain have been.. Now the ideas just keep flowing in, on what I should extend the system with. *chuckles* But I hope to still keep it simple and very user friendly on the server administrators that want to use it.

Well.. That is what I really have been up to the last few days and is also one of the chief reasons that there haven’t been any updates here, because I just don’t know what I should write if I had to update the blog every single day and in the end I also think my posts would be very very boring (if they aren’t already) in the long run, because I would run out of material to write about..

*hmms* So a few days ago, a friend of mine made me aware of this little free game called Mabinogi.. I checked it out and it really looked like a game which I’d love to play, but.. And here is where the shitty reality hits you square in the face, they only allow people from North America to play..

Now isn’t that just great.. *chuckles* Here they get me all worked up for a great game and I cannot even play it.. Oh, and do they list it on their web page, so you at least don’t have to download and install their game just to find out that you cannot play it ??

Noooo, they actually allow you to download and install it, only to find out when you connect that you cannot login due to “Not a Service Area” error. Then you have to google and check out their forums to see that only NA citizens are allowed to play the game..

Yea, maybe I should have read the TOS and the forum before I downloaded the game, but honestly how many of us take time to do that, when we see a game and want to play it ?? What did I hear ? None.. Well, there we have it..

*kicks Mabinogi’s developers square in the balls* (Sorry for the obvious quote)..

Well.. Sorry all but I just had to get this off the chest.. I wont link to the site here, because I don’t really want to support anyone who forces people to live certain places, just to do certain things, but if you really are interested, you can just Google for Mabinogi and I am very sure that you’ll find it..

Mostly the game called “The Guild 2″ has been keeping me occupied. I really love this game. It is a game where you try to build yourself a dynasty in the middle ages (around 1400) in Europe, you get to choose from 4 different “classes” called Patron, Craftsman/woman, Rogue and Scholar, all those different classes have, at least, 3 different professions that you can choose for yourself, for example the Rogue can choose to set up a Robbers Nest, where you rob the carts that other businesses use to ship their good in or they can set up an Pirate Outpost, where you can plunder ships or again you can set up an Thieves Stronghold, so you can go out and break into houses, export for protection money and all such things, and that is just one of the classes..

Though what you can do in game isn’t really the greatest part of the game, the greatest part is how easy the game is to modify.. There are tons of different user created mods, which alter the game in one way or the other..

For example, one mod, which I have made myself, alters how many years passes between every game round. Normally the game passes 4 years for every game round and that was just too much. I made a mod that allows you to modify that to your liking. Currently I am playing with 1 year per round, and it’s a lot more fun..

You can also get a husband/wife in the game and get some kids to continue your dynasty, those kids you can send to school, they can get an apprenticeship and go to the university.. You can also go into the “political game” and run for mayor of the town..

There are just so many different options in the game and that is really why I love it so, and why I play it as much as I do. Now there are also levels in the game along with different skills and abilities which you can become better in, so there is a RP feel to it also, which helps a lot, but if you haven’t I really suggest you try it out. It’s not a new game so you can probably find it cheap somewhere, but if you do get it, I really recommend the addon also “Pirates of the European Sea” because that adds so much more content..

There is also a community made modification that adds a lot more gameplay, which is called Back to the Roots, and the best of all, is that it’s free. *grins*

Phew. *chuckles* Yea.. I haven’t really written as much here on my blog as I would like, but that is mostly because I’ve been sucked in by the gaming demons again *giggles*

I spend almost all of yesterday just playing Oblivion on my Xbox360.. It has been a long while since I last played that game on my xbox360, mostly because I love all the extra stuff that you can get on the PC, but I decided that I wanted to try and complete it for the sake of fun and a few extra Gamer Points. *smiles*

So yesterday I sat down and loaded one of my old save games. In this save game, I am playing an Argonian female which uses a custom class I called Scaly Cat *grins* It is more or less a mix of a stealthy thief and a illusion/alteration spell user, which gives me some rather unique combos to use when I am out killing or robbing people blind..

Currently that char has logged 23 hours of in game playing time, but after yesterday I went up to 33 hours. She is Arena Grand Champion, Listener in the Dark Brotherhood (leader) and Guild leader in the Thieves Guild.

The last part about the Thieves Guild, I finished yesterday. In the main plot, I haven’t really advanced very far, I haven’t even delivered that “Amulet of the Kings” which you get in the first mission of the game yet, so I have mostly been spending my time doing the side missions of the game, and yes there are a lot of side missions in Oblivion.

Now I don’t have Shivering Isles for xbox360, but I am thinking about buying it. It costs 2400 Microsoft points which is about 40 dollars or so, and it’s an expansion to the game offering, from what it says, around 30 hours or extra game play, but it also offers you the possibility to collect 250 extra Gamer Points for your xbox profile, so all in all, I think it’s worth getting..

But I will probably continue to play today, probably starting to continue down the main quest line, and when that is completed, I want to become the guild leader of the Fighters Guild also, though I think that might be a problem with my current char, so I might start another, more fighter oriented character to do that. *grins*

I must say though, that the last mission in the Thieves Guild was very very exciting and hard. It took me around 2-3 hours to complete fully, because there just are so many nuances to that mission, and you really need to take your time to make sure it’s done correctly, but I guess that if you just wanted to rush through the mission, you could probably do it in less than a hour, but I really like to take my time and explore everything I can, it just makes the game a lot more fun for me. *smiles*

Now that I am getting in the mood to play more RPG games, I’ve thought about playing and/or completing Star Wars : Knights of the old Republic again, because that is also an awesome game, both the first one and the sequel.. I love them both..

I probably will also play a bit more Mass Effect. I’ve played through Mass Effect once already, but I really feel like that the game has more to offer than what can be experienced through one completion, though for some reason I don’t find Mass Effect as exciting to play as Star Wars : Knights of the old Republic or Oblivion, if I should guess as to why, the reason would probably be, that the two other games have much more depth and a lot more extra content (side quests/missions) to catch my attention than Mass Effect, it almost seems like that the Mass Effect developers thought that “Hey we have a great looking engine with awesome graphics. Let’s skimp a bit on the storyline/game play” which in my eyes is a very large mistake..

Yes, amazing graphics are nice, but I’d rather take good game play and a great and involving storyline any day..

The point I’m getting to now in GTA IV is really tough. The missions get harder and harder, before I could easily do the missions without dying but now, I generally die just before I escape the police forcing me to restart the entire mission, which is really annoying, but hey that’s what all GTA games do..

Other than playing GTA IV, I’ve been playing a bit of Mass Effect also. I’ve already gotten 1 play through of the game, but it’s a game that one can easily play again, so that’s what I am doing. *chuckles*

I’ve put the review writing a bit on hold, mostly because I haven’t been in the mood to write any reviews lately, plus I’m still not sure if I should publish them here on try to make a bit extra cash on Triond by publishing them there and then advertising them here.
I think the reason that I have used so much time thinking about it, is mostly because I don’t know what I should use this blog for. Should I keep it mixed or find an overall topic for it. *hmms* Decisions decisions..

After I looked through my traffic logs it seems that a few have visited me with some interesting searching terms, so I thought that I would look back at one of my older posts about my Second Life adventures and avatars..

Yes, I have a unicorn avatar as my main avatar in Second Life, I usually also play with my main account which is called Silvermane Fluffball.. So if you see me in game any of these days, please don’t by shy (even though I usually am) and say hey..

It’s been a while since I’ve been online mostly due to the fact that I always get asked if I want to cyber, no matter when I login and I am kinda tired of that. *chuckles*

So if you do say hey, please do not make this your opening statement: “Hey there beautiful, wanna cyber?” *snickers*

I have nothing against the occasional intimate RP but it should not be the only thing that I do while online, I would really love to have some friends also and just talk or hangout *chuckles*

I played the old version and I wasn’t very impressed due to increasing amounts of crashes and just overall bad performance from the game engine, though I am happy to say that they have really been hard at work on improving their engine to the point where the game is actually playable..
To tell a little about the game play. You play as a loner wolf which has just left your birth pack to venture out into the mountain range and find yourself a mate..

In the game there are 3 pack zones of the map (zones which belong to other wolf packs) and you can visit those three to “talk” to other wolves, now the game isn’t very informative on what you have to do, because you kinda have to visit all three zones before you even have a change at finding a mate..
After you have found yourself a mate and done a little courtship for your prospective mate, you get to name your mate and he or she will follow you around on your journey through the Yellowstone National Park..

The AI is okay, though sometimes I have had a few problems with my mate, getting him to follow me around but after a howl or two, he usually comes running back to me..

After you get yourself a mate, you don’t really have many other things to do in the game. You can go rabbit and elk hunting, you can also try and hunt down a few of the coyotes in the game and even try your paw at hunting one of the Grizzlies in the park, but the Grizzlies aren’t really that easy to hunt down..

And that’s basically what there is to the game, get a mate and hunt.. There is also an multi player part of the game that I haven’t tried yet, due to some annoying lag/timeout issues with their network engine, so I cannot talk very much on the multi player part of the game, but the single player part is quite lacking really..

I am sorry for the lack of pictures in the post, but I haven’t gotten around to take some yet, when I have I will put them up on my gallery page where you can check them out, but right now there aren’t any images from that game yet..

I will also say a few things about game performance.. Sure the game can be rather pretty when your play on the highest setting, but with my computer (not the newest but not the oldest) I get down to 3 fps when there are more characters on the screen other than my mate and me, so if I wanted to do some serious elk hunting, I have to set the game down 2 notches over the lowest setting, which makes all the game graphics mediocre at best..

Though I have not even had one crash yet, so they have done a lot to improve that at least..
Last but not least, I will recommend the game for others that are interested in such games, because it is an okay game and best of all it’s free, so there is hardy anything I can complain about in regards to price.

I’ll give the game a score of around 5/10, it’s an okay game but there could be done a lot to improve the game play and the graphical rendering (engine).. I know they use a commercial engine called Unity and I know that the Unity engine can do a lot of nice things, so I guess they really just need to look into using more shader accelerated routines and maybe cut a bit back on the poly count of the models that they use, or the sizes of their textures..

But all in all, try it out, it is at least worth 20 minutes of your time.
